System Solutions

Workpieces with diameters of up to 4,000 mm are to be welded round and lengthwise as well as inside and outside. The process used is submerged arc welding with one or more wires up to 5 mm wire diameter. We have realised:

• Movable column and boom on rail system
• Roller blocks with a maximum load of 30 tons
• Automatic, tactile seam tracking for both torches

Double-T and cross profiles as well as box girders are to be produced. Welding is carried out in PA and PB position with the UP double wire process, with two torches moving in parallel. We have realised:

• Welding portal for submerged-arc double wire welding
• System and welding control via Siemens SPS and touch screen
• Travelling welding technology, powder supply and wire depot with approx. 32,000 mm traverse path
• Bent parallel wire nozzle bars with separate supports

The task is to join sheets and rolled sections up to 30 mm thick to form box-shaped profiles. Thereby opposite fillet welds are to be welded simultaneously. We have realised:

• Cost-effective solution with the help of the UP system construction kit
• Basis: welding tractor type KA 4-UPDG
