Plasma-Transferred Arc Welding
Plasma-transferred arc welding (PTA welding) is a thermal process for coating metallic materials for wear and corrosion protection purposes. The plasma arc melts the base material. At the same time, the powdery filler material is inserted into the arc and melts too. During solidification a compound between filler material and base material is created which is especially hard or resistant against abrasion, corrosion or acids. PTA welding is in particular used for repair and refinement work.
