Reduced Sound Pressure Level during Plasma Cutting

Keep calm & cut silently Users of plasma cutting technology are familiar with this problem: Due to the high energy density and flow velocity during high-quality plasma cutting the sound level can amount to more than 100 dB(A) depending on the cutting task. Especially the very high frequencies are perceived as disturbing and unpleasant. With Silent Cut, Kjellberg Finsterwalde now offers a solution to reduce the noise exposure significantly.

As a further development of the patented Contour Cut technology, Silent Cut reduces the sound pressure level by up to 15 dB (A) during plasma cutting of mild steels with a material thickness between 4 and 30 mm in the current range between 60 and 160 A. The Silent Cut technology is based on a unique combination of new consumables and cutting data, enabling the user to cut holes, bars and contours with the same quality as Contour Cut, while benefiting from the significantly reduced sound pressure level.

Silent Cut was presented live for the first time at the trade show Schweissen & Schneiden 2017. At Kjellberg’s stand visitors could convince themselves of the reduced sound pressure level during mild steel cutting. This was clearly audible in direct comparison to the conventional Contour Cut plasma cutting.
