The apprentices Sepp Fröhlich, Markus Laurisch und Christopher Lehmann and their supervisor Lisa Müller had bright eyes when they received the first prize for their film at the Youth Olympics 2010 in the city of Lübbenau.
Under the title „Olympics for openness, tolerance and equal opportunities“ apprentices from all countries of the European Union were invited to make a film about the profession of their choice. Their task was to demonstrate what makes their profession interesting and what role tolerance plays. The jury had the difficult task to choose the best from 24 contributions submitted by young people from eleven countries.
The prize ceremony took place at the end of a one-week Youth Olympics. During this week, the young people and their supervisors experienced an exciting programme. Trainings about inter-cultural communication, excursions to the Visitors' Mine F60 and the Spreewald water park or raft building at the Hindenberg Lake provided ample opportunity to get to know each other and learn to understand one another. While enjoying fun, sports and games, the participants could at the same time improve their English skills because English was the common language in the camp.
„Many young people have travelled abroad for the first time so this is a unique experience for them“, said the Portuguese supervisor Filipe. Sepp, Markus and Christopher also enjoyed the week very much. They learn to be electronic technicians at Kjellberg Finsterwalde and at present prepare themselves to study electrical engineering.
